It’s almost been a full year in Kansas City!

Hard to believe I moved here last year around this time leaving my friends and the beautiful state of California behind. I miss California, my church and friends, but I have to say it’s a blessing to be here in Kansas City where my mother lives with my sister and brother-in-law and my father is closer. It’s only a 9-hour drive to Tyler, Texas, which I’ve already done once. It’s great to be near family once again after nearly 25 years of living apart in different countries, Japan, New Zealand and America.

Now that I’m here in Kansas City, I’m working for a company called Power Dry as a marketing rep, but still shooting photos…just not as many as I had the opportunity to do in California.

Kansas City is basically split in half and on the borders of the states of Kansas and Missouri. I live on the Missouri side and work is on the Kansas side, although I travel all around the city visiting companies marketing Power Dry. I enjoy my 9-5 job, but I do wish I had more opportunities to shoot photography.

Since I’ve been here, I’ve been planning a series of Kansas City, which I will release sometime in the late spring or early summer when I have longer days and more time to get out to photograph on longer days. Tomorrow, we are actually setting our clocks for daylight savings time. Glad I get one day of wake-up practice before going to work Monday morning!

Back to the series…

I’ll be doing a series of black and white high contrast fine art photos of Kansas City and I don’t plan on doing photos like most people sell, so they should be fun and unique. Once I’ve shot this series, I will also be changing my website to more of a shopping cart system where people can easily buy my artwork. So stand by as spring is almost here and time will change!
