What a truly amazing reaction Isabella had as she laid eyes on her birthday cake her parents had made for her 1st birthday! It was a beautiful pink cake decorated mermaid-like. I believe they used Doris Bakery Panaderia near Smart and Final in Camarillo.

Danitza and Ben put together a beautiful celebration using beach and mermaid decorations. The colors of the decorations and backgrounds they purchased went together beautifully. Everything matched perfectly for photos! It was almost like being on a set. Everything was gorgeous!

I highly recommend creating a theme for your occasion using colorful backdrops and decorations to enhance the photos of your events. Danitza had quite a few stuffed animals and toys available to entertain their daughter while posing her for photos. They really work well getting them to focus on something fun that really adds to the photos.

The colors of Isabella’s mermaid outfit along with the backdrop and cake brought it all together for beautiful photos at the end of the party when the sun was setting in the back yard! The timing of the party was perfect as it ended right after sunset.

I had such a fun time recording this birthday party and seeing all the relatives interacting and playing with the children and birthday girl. The sun setting with the California smoke-filled air on the horizon from nearby fires added a gorgeous orange light to everything. Hope you enjoy the sample photos!

For photographers, you’ll want to be ready as they give the toys or present their child with something like the cake in order to capture their reactions. That’s your job, so be prepared!
