Finally, we were able to see the aurora under starry skies!
Once again, it was foggy at first. But this time, the fog lifted earlier and revealed more star and aurora than we have seen the entire trip. The aurora was also a bit stronger tonight and wavy.

While it wasn’t the best aurora conditions we could have asked for, it was good enough to see the Northern Lights lighting up the sky.
We woke up several times throughout the night in order to see the lights. Early around 8pm, it was too foggy, so we ate dinner and then checked periodically until around midnight. After midnight, we went to sleep and woke up about every hour or so until around 5am, which is when we had the best view of the aurora because the fog had lifted.
Here are some of the the shots we got the first good night of visibility.

The moose come out at night when fewer people are around and it’s beginning to get dark. Sunset doesn’t come to Fairbanks right now until just before 8pm.
After hiking around there for about 2 hours, we got back in the 2011 Chevy Suburban I’m driving around (an Avis upgrade from the mini-van I had...

Sitting at the airport waiting for the last flight of the beginning of our trip from Anchorage to Fairbanks.
Everyone ate a big meal after landing in Anchorage and now they are super sleepy.

Heading to Seattle, then onto Anchorage, Alaska where we hope to see the aurora borealis in Fairbanks.
The night we arrive, it is supposed to be snowing a little. After that, we should have better weather to see the aurora.
Please pray we can see it while there as many days as we are there…5 days.
Gotta go!
