Don’t you love stories about families receiving gifts of food and necessities when they need it? Around this time of year, TV news and special shows come on sharing about people who are in need of food, clothing and shelter and receive it just before Thanksgiving or Christmas.
Thanksgiving started when the pilgrims and indians, way back when America was just a colony, took time to give God thanks for the blessings He had poured out on them providing them food and safety. The tradition has carried on ever since. However, these days, people seldom give God the glory for the things they have or receive. They share their thankfulness, but omit praise to God.
If you find yourself forgetting to give God the glory and praise for what you have – your health, a home, food, clothing, transportation, family, friends – take time from now on, not just on Thanksgiving Day, but everyday, to give God thanks. After all, everything you have is a gift from God in the first place.
