Denise Back Home

Denise’s long summer vacation has finally come to an end. After something like 48 days of being abroad in California and Washington D.C., she is now settling back into Japanese mode here in Kyoto, Japan.

Today, Mia and Noah had their first day of school. We did a rush job on their summer projects last night only to find out that they don’t have to have them in today. Tomorrow is okay, too. Well, now they are done, so we can give their projects a polish and still have them in on time.

Mia did a purse with Auntie Kazuko. She cut up a pair of old jeans and made them into a very stylish purse. Auntie took photos of the process and Mia will display them with her purse so people can see how she did it all.

Noah got skateboard parts in America, brought them back and built a skateboard from scratch. We took photos of the process and pasted them on cardboard to display along with his board.

Denise is suffering from jet lag still and it is day three after arriving from America. When I came home tonight, she and the kids were already in bed sleeping. Hence, I have some time by myself tonight to post this blog article.

I, on the other hand, officially started back working pretty much right after I returned home. But my schedule wasn’t back to normal until today. Now, it’s back to work! Summer is over! Hopefully, the heat will end soon and cool autumn temps will begin settling in.

Man, it’s hot and muggy here in Kyoto! Today, the temperature was close to 100F and high humidity! Ouch! I sure do miss Ventura, California temperatures! I bet Denise does too.

What an Amazing 2010 Summer!

It wasn’t ideal, because my wife wasn’t with us the entire time, but it was great nonetheless.

Denise spent much of her time down at her mom’s in Monrovia and her brother’s place in Rancho Cucamonga. Currently, she is in DC with her mom and sister-in-law visiting the capital for her first time seeing the sites, monuments, museums and so forth. From her pictures on Facebook, she seems to be having a lot of fun, and it is only her first day there.

Mia and Noah spent this summer hanging out with their cuzzies, playing games (lots of Playstation with Josh and Jordan), wrestling, eating and talking and going about. They also got to play with Taffy and take her for walks. We miss them all so much!

During the homestay, Mia and Noah joined in on the fun. We had many events planned so they participated in those with the Japanese students.

In a nutshell: We went to Universal Studios Hollywood first, then saw a Dodger baseball game against the Mets, which they won, went to 5 days of Vacation Bible School and made many friends and met old ones, went shopping, to the beach surfing, Disneyland and Six Flags Hurricane Harbor, attended the Sayonara Party at a beautiful house in Santa Rosa Valley of Camarillo and then picnicked and played at Arroyo Verde Park in Ventura before we headed back home.

Celebraing Noah's Birthday and Thanksgiving

Now, we are back home in Japan baking in the hot humid weather, mostly staying indoors in AC awaiting the weekend so we can possibly head to the beach one more time before summer ends and school starts back.
